Travel to a beautiful island on Tai Lake for an action-packed four days full of outdoor learning. Students will enjoy hiking and map reading, a cycling challenge, making kites, abseiling, dragon boating and a memorable night camping under the stars. A visit to a local tangerine farm is a unique experience and, of course, a great chance to sample the produce!

Day 1

Take a private coach from school to an island near Suzhou. Arrive at the port and take a ferry across to the beautiful island in the middle of one of China’s largest lakes. Then, students will divide into teams, come up with team names, chants, colours, and goals.
Students will cycle on the islands perimeter on 4 and 2 seated cycling carts and complete our “Checkpoint Charlie Challenge”. Tasks include pop questions, marking compass points on maps, and small treasure hunts. In the evening there will be a welcome banquet and dance party!

Day 2

n the morning students get a chance to tackle the mountains of the island and explore through our guided hike and map reading challenge. In the afternoon students alternate through a variety of training activities. (Abseiling, dragon boating, high climb assault course). In the evening students will set up their campsite. Students can enjoy and evening by the campfire, complete with ‘smores’ and sing-alongs. Each team will be asked to perform a performance or comedy skit.

Day 3

In the morning teams will make and fly Kites. Then, it’s on to friendly competition in some team building games. Gather for a tour of the renowned orchards in the area. Students will gain knowledge about the whole processes regarding the planting, harvesting and sale of the tangerines. Students will have a chance to ask the farmers’ questions such as how the environment affects their livelihood. Afterwards, teams will pick tangerines to take home, or to eat right there on the field! In the evening have an outdoor BBQ meal and some free time for basketball at the basketball courts.

Day 4

Take the ferry off the island Head Qionglong Mountain. On the way back stop off at Luxiang, the first settlement to become a town around the Tai Lake. Transfer back to school in the afternoon.
